If you prefer flexibility and variety, rather than a long-term commitment, Drake Medox can place you on short-term assignments with various hospitals. These range from one day to several months and can provide you with the opportunity to work around the city, or be part of a real Aussie outback community. If you are not an Australian resident, there are two visa options for agency nursing with Drake:
1. Working Holiday Visa
A working holiday visa enables you to work and travel around Australia for up to 12 months. You may only work in each hospital for a maximum of three months.
- You must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- You must provide proof of £2,000 in your bank account.
- You can obtain a working holiday visa application form from the Australian High Commission (see Important Links)
Australian sponsorship may be available for twelve months with one of our branches in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or Darwin. You will be required to work a minimum of 35 hours per week, and earn a minimum salary of $37000.

What inspired you to travel to the Northern Territory?I travelled to Darwin for a few reasons, really first of all the weather, a chance to work with Australia's Indigenous society and of course the lively backpacking social scene which would have had a small input in my decision! I have been here 2 ½ months and I plan to work another two weeks here.
How long had you planned to stay here and are you planning to work elsewhere in the Northern Territory such as Alice Springs?
My working holiday visa is just over so I will not get the opportunity to work in Alice Springs unfortunately as I have been told by others there is a lot of valuable nursing experience to be gained there.
How have you enjoyed working in Darwin?
I have really enjoyed nursing in Darwin as I have made many friends through my work and have been made very welcome by my fellow working colleagues in Royal Darwin Hospital.
